Where are they now: Bernie Goetz The New Yorker http://www.newyorker.com/talk/content/?021118ta_talk_halpern He’s a vegetarian activist, uninterested in gun policy.
From a friend of a friend:
“I recent had a casual (and quite cheap) physical exam at my local gay health clinic and the new, young nurse practitioner (ersatz doctor) who examined me asked me as part of the examination whether I had a smoke detector in my home and whether I owned a gun. When I hesitated on this latter she said with
evident concern that many people are wounded at home when they own guns. is now part of some new "public health" approach to social issues. Perhaps it is a clue about the future of this issue. Next a census question? The question was odder still coming from a medical type who did not bother to do a prostate or hernia exam--things I would think were routine in a physical. On a 61 year old man you would think a prostate exam would be a no
brainer.
Nope--she wanted to know about guns and smoke detectors.” ============================== 3. Australia Handgun Ban
